about:

No more TV, no more drinks, no more smokes and no more sleeping through the day… With this line Glenister kicks off their 5-track EP FAME. It illustrates the fact that this band is serious about their music. Glenister is formed in August of 2004. After their first gig in Ekko (Utrecht) they record three songs in the empty safe of a bank. Following the good reviews of both their demo and their shows, a keyboard player joins the band and completes the sound with edgy melodies. They are then invited by producer Martijn Groeneveld to record some of their songs, which results in the EP FAME.

Glenister plays at Tivoli (Utrecht) supporting Mando Diao in February 2005, only a few months after they finish their demo We’ll take it from here. Following that they play Rotown (Rotterdam), Bitterzoet (Amsterdam), Bevrijdingspop (Utrecht) and Metropolis, a yearly festival for promising new bands held in Rotterdam. After the release of FAME, Glenister goes on tour with The Rakes to the Melkweg (Amsterdam) and Effenaar (Eindhoven) and supports We Are Scientists in a packed Ekko (Utrecht).

Glenister’s sound can be described as a mixture of rock, pop, punk and disco, packed in two-and-a-half minute songs at double speed. Their melodies instantly get stuck inside your head, driven home by their powerful hyperactive performance.
